The god Dionysos, known to the Romans as Bacchus, is shown blessing the wine in a crater that is sitting upon a small altar. He is modeled after Antinous, the favorite of Emperor Hadrian.

Notice the beautifully painted detail of wall behind him. All the design motifs are reminiscent of the painted wall decorations found in the villas of Pompeii.
